Mark Kapczynski

Mark Kapczynski has a successful track record as a product and business strategist, at the intersection of technology, data and mobile devices across industries.  He currently works with companies to develop new business offerings and enter new markets.  These companies are focused on consumer healthcare, fintech, grocery and data & analytics.

Mr. Kapczynski advises startup businesses as part of the LA Chamber of Commerce’s Bixel Exchange.  He assists technology startups in Southern California to design their businesses, ensure product-market-fit, build out their teams and raise capital to fuel their growth.

Mr. Kapczynski as a part-time venture partner at Arrowroot Capital, focuses on investments in the SaaS market in need of growth capital to further develop their businesses.  The areas that Mr. Kapczynski addresses are Big Data & Analytics, Financial Services, and Consumer Internet.

Mr. Kapczynski additionally serves as an Executive Director of the UCLA Venture Capital Fund, helping to foster innovation connected to the university; including early stage investing, mentoring, and access to Intellectual Property from UCLA patents.

Mr. Kapczynski last served as VP of Corporate Development and Strategy for Experian's consumer businesses which include leading consumer brands: Experian, FreeCreditReport.com, and ProtectMyID. Through executing on over 8 M&A transactions, Mr. Kapczynski helped to facilitate Experian’s under-lying growth and profitability.  Mr. Kapczynski was also responsible for the roadmap of product features mapping to market and consumer needs.  Most of this effort centered on moving Experian from a legacy browser-only offering into a more modern native mobile application and platform.  A key element was rapid design and development along with flexibility to add and change features as well as integrating several data/ad tracking components.  

Mr. Kapczynski previously built a venture backed start-up in the Entertainment industry called MESoft; worked at Microsoft Corporation as a Director in Media & Entertainment, and built one of the first ecommerce technology start-ups called Digital Genesis.

Mr. Kapczynski graduated from UCLA film school and continues to be active in multiple industry associations that span media, mobile, data, technology, and consumer internet. He has 12 patents to his name and an additional 40 patents pending.

In his free time, Mr. Kapczynski enjoys spending time with his wife and 2 kids as well as car racing and playing the drums.
